The Oregon Sustainability Center (OSC) will be a 16-story research facility center that will house educational facilities for Portland State University as well as a number of non-profit sustainable focused businesses. This building’s primary goal is to be the first urban high-rise in the world to achieve the Living Building Challenge. This goal will be focused on: zero-net energy use, on-site stormwater/greywater/ blackwater reuse, and an annual EUI of 19 KBtu/ft2-yr. The longer term vision is for the building to act as an anchor for Portland’s first Eco-district.

TRANSPORTATION INFLUENCE
Street Car . The current tracks will be rerouted to bisect the site, continuing the corridor through the PSU campus. Introducing green spaces along this new route could increase tourist street car usage and stimulate the local economy.

Max Transit . Quick moving train responsible for transporting many Portlanders. Placing the wetlands along the MAX routes would demonstrate ecological aspects to commuters.

Portland Bus . Stops occur at the South East and South West corners of the site. Street life could be activated by placing public spaces in conjunction with retail spaces at these corners.

Encouraging Walking . A number of routes, paths and parks in the nearby area are further connected with a porous floorplan that directs people to the atrium.
